The End of the Season!

Last week I set out on a walk, intending to take the ferry across the Poole Harbour entrance so that I could follow a route that would take in some heather-clad heathland, some high viewpoints, a lovely village, and a few miles of some of the best beach you could wish for…….but it all went wrong!

I parked up at one of the only free parking areas even remotely near the ferry and walked a mile and a half to reach the slipway, only to find that the ferry was out of service, having broken down with engine trouble……in fact a week later it is still out of service. So, not to be defeated, I retraced my steps and walked the other way instead, following Sandbanks beach all the way to Bournemouth and back. It wasn’t such a good walk, much less wild and much more tame and touristy, but the good thing was that it was at least the end of the season 🙂 !

Its quite surprising what you find to photograph when you walk along the beach, even if it is not in the windswept moorlands and woods. This was a great day, lots of heavy cloud intermingled with really bright sunshine so despite the ‘best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men’ having ‘ganged agley’, to use the poet’s words, I had an awesome time 🙂 !

This is just a few pictures from the many that I took on that walk along the beach at the end of what had been a sizzling summer season.

It was just a short walk but I hope you have enjoyed it nonetheless!
