On Dungy Head Again

I’m sure I have posted pictures of this view before because it is a favourite of mine. This was taken recently on a day when I was playing ‘taxi driver’ to my wife and daughter, and having dropped them off, I had a few hours to spare before picking them up again. I decided that I would take a walk along the coast from Lulworth Cove and I walked the couple of miles up onto Dungy Head, intending to walk a few more miles along the coast path. In fact, this is as far as I got!

The day was bright and warm, with little breeze as I sat looking out across this view, and frankly, I just didn’t want to move, it was so beautiful. So I got out my sketch pad and just sat there for a couple of hours sketching the scene before me whilst a myriad butterflies fluttered all around and the flowers nodded their heads in appreciation. The only sound was the occasional gull, and the distant voices of people walking the ‘motorway’, which is what I call the part of the coast path that climbs from Lulworth to Durdle Door – it is a very popular path! What most don’t know is that just a short distance away is this headland which is off the beaten track and therefore comparatively untrodden…….but don’t tell anyone 🙂 !

Sometimes I love to walk miles and miles, but sometimes I just like to sit…….and with such an awesome spot, with such an amazing view, on such a fantastic day, why not!
